The Unnamed Place

We are so
trapped here, so
hemmed-in our
own minds, our
geography overlined with
hedges ditches boundaries of
fields, borders of
countries, lines on a
map that say
no rather than
yes and
tell us where we may

Gone is the veldt, the
wide-open space, the
mountain and river
unnamed the
unnamed place that
caught our hearts
and souls and
fired our imaginations to be
more than we are
capable of.

We have
caused our own
prison with our
ownership and
tagging, our
conquering the world has
left us with
nowhere to go - our
world too full of
delineations, too
full of names
to leave us space to
