Weather Warning

The night is dark, outside
drizzle falls, the house is still

inside trees are waving in the
wind, way down where the
salt spray is and the sea
rushes into hollow caverns echoing
sliding over ledges dressed with
dark green weeds that wave

like hands in the darkness -
where did the light go why
is all fury, hurry, movement,
storm - where was the weather
warning so the

hatches could be fixed and the
slates nailed down?
Where is the word to
calm the waters, make the
wind glide slow, to
stop the cave's mouth
cause silence to rise?

There are too many eyes
and too much mind -
there is no sleep in this world
a world of black and lowered skies.
