The rains came II

at last the rains came
to rescue the dry ground
huge banks of dark cloud -
the first seen for months -
welcomed with open arms
and grateful glances -
it fell in sheets, in
drizzles, it came in deluge and
went, and all the green
world dripped, the soil
turning from grey
dust to black earth
and joy it was
to stay indoors and
watch it fall
