The Oyster

trees creak as I go by
pushed gently unseen
wind, the air is warm -
it is hard work walking

last night a dream:
my grandmother: "I
heard what happened to you" ...
odd thing, she sat
in her usual chair
as if she'd never left

always they visit
the ones I used to know
far across dimensions
in unknown worlds -
close to a beating heart:

pearls in the oyster:
ugly on the outside
beauty within
