Spoil

This ground is sour
I grow thistles rank and
Thick they prick my
Hands
Little pins of adamant
Little spots of blood
Dropping to nourish the soil

If I toil enough here maybe
Something will grow
That is bright and green
And not diseased by
My own ruin, dug
By these bare hands
Of spoil
