Seethe

She felt her mind bend and warp
a madness searing in
on looking down
flies sucked and crawled
over her clothes, under her skin

shrieking and running,
leaping over grass,
she tripped on tussocks, arms
outflung - fear closed her sight

a desperate shutter - the mind
bursts with ugly things to push
the edge, too late to salvage
sanity in a pit seething with dread.
