Flame II

Flames behave differently
According to what they are fed
According to
Conditions of burning
According to good air or bad

And our flames are
No less than this:
Fanned or snuffed
By time and winds
Of change blowing us -

Threaten to
Crush that bright wick
That feeds it.

The will is
The struck match
That ensures
A flame endures its burn
Does not exceed
Its stretch
Does not
Extinguish in
Life's hard fingers
