Figure of Speech

A language of sign,
Form and movement
But no speech
Communicates easily
To eyes that read -
She tells her
Need, her mood,
She says hello,
Goodbye, and thank you,
She says she is sad
Or glad, or pensive
Or needs to be left alone
To snooze ...
But she speaks not one word.
She configures herself
In limb, ear and eye -
Body signs the signifiers
Of the incomplete
Dumb beast
Disabled and made bright,
Articulated
By no speech.
