After the Dead

What can you do
with the dead but
leave them
and walk away - your
heart fractured and
unlikely to be
whole again, and live
a gaping life
of grey pain

Where is the winning
in memory and effort
that makes them
live again
except within the palm
the whole skin
the breathing?
