The Dinosaurs

We haruspicate and
murmur, telling
tales of the past from
desert dust compacted and
quietly yielding
up its treasure in the sun - they
ran, they run
in our minds, the
demons and dragons
of our planet's past, the
forerunners of our
age, the human man
bipedal and
small standing
upright clothed in hair
shaking a fist at a
large world he
inherited from
beasts who once ran there.
