today the clouds came

today the clouds came
and the winds picked-up:
a fresh breeze: a
window to cut and
edge the grass, tie-up
the sprawling plants,
turn the compost,
and even then we were
chased inside by the
humid air and our sweat

it feels like it might
rain, but the pale
grey clouds pass and
pass in piles
and no water came
