frozen

frozen, immobile by the
concept that, real, and
live, has the power to
tear your heart out and
wrench the soul from its
place, where, hefted it
springs real and true -
the lance in the being
slices you, makes you
draw breath in pain,
as, crippled you
try and stand but
cannot - your life
severed in two so it
cannot stand alone -
proud, strong, it is
halved and dimished,
death-in-life
wrong and
against the grain - the
inarticulate cry, the
animal act that
takes your humanity
and dislodges instinct
so you become
a dog and
crouching in pain can
only howl and
take an aeon to
straighten
