back beyond

home is at the
end of the road in silence,
in stars, and in zero
degrees, in locked
and bolted doors, in
a warm bed, the flames
of my hearth,
and all my years spread
round me like embroidered
cloths, all colours
on the black, silver, gold,
my shelves full
of artefacts

my words are all I have -
the million miles I cannot
cross to join them on an
endless journey in another
place I do not know

all I can do is say hello
and say I love, believe
I have nothing left to prove
