and in the silence

and in the
silence of a
full house
devoid of its
inhabitants but
two children - fragments
of a wider whole
I sit
and read a
book I gave to my
dearest friend
whom I well love
and whom I have
known my
life away
distant or
nearby - and
needy I see her and
needy I spend
time in the
arms of them - these
people I love
wholly and whom
to a point
thole me
