Waiting on the Blind Man

He will wait
All his life
For that knock at the door.

He will wait
All his life
For that telephone to ring.

He will wait
And carry
Her voice with him - a voluntary action

For she was
The only one; will always be
That person; he will never

Be alone if at his ear
Is her voice; in his mind she is
All presence.

She is his ghost:
A shred of the substantial
Being she was, but hovering and close.

They are linked in a way
That neither can see
Nor sever.

He waits for sight. He waits
For her to rise
Into his life. He will wait forever.
