To Aboyne

alarming roads: up the
crown of a steep hill, no
vision down the other side till
the car windscreen was
angled to the ground, and
snow, where least expected
in a dry, sunny day
with blue sky

such a warm welcome, food
and relaxed company - it
felt like visiting
family, twinkling eyes,
beautiful home, such space!

this lovely woman
articulating a decades-long
journey to someone taking
first steps

we made it home in darkness
hours like cordial
sweet on the tongue
