The small page turns

divided seven even
and neat days
all lined and houred
blank, unwritten
expectation, weighted
doing and movement
thought and heart
and obscurer
duties fostered
in the blood, freighted
in ancestral bone.

Grounded and undone
the last lone singer
sings
uneven song
drinks from the cup
he long has known.
