The Wave II

Overborne by sadness is the
engulfing wave that drowns
all good things and weights the heart
with water
the sodden head too
heavy to lift free of the
tidal flow that bears thee
down below the surface of
the day
to a place where sunlight
doth hold no sway -
the woman who mourns
made dead to
the day -
and for every person lost
pays a weighty price
for love.
