The Unremarkable Day

not just in war
time do people lose
loved-ones and
homes - it happens on
any unremarkable day
when the clouds float
by serenely and the sky
is pink - everything

can sink suddenly
without trace to the
bottom of an overwhelming
sea that slides in
imperceptibly but
like the great flood
washes all life away
on any peaceful day
