The Passage

The crossing
Was not easy - a
Tough time was
Had by all the
Waters high the
Salt spray flying

They clutched the sides
And moaned in pain
The darkening skies holding
Lightning in its
Arm as if it would
Split its sides

I wrenched the wheel
And wrenched my arms -
Blinded by the darkness
I could not see the shore
God help me I cried
And wept
As the waves got
Stronger
