The Marker

The marker is there
in black and white -
enduring stone enduring
wind and rain, all the
seasons of the heart and
parting, like a roadside
marker it tells the
way tells the
time tells the
miles to go till I
reach home, tells
all the words said and
done, all the love
unravelled, all the
fires of hearth and home
fixed in its
silent stone.
