The Ledgers

We must be ripe grain
Before he come, we must have
Grown to our full height
Before we be counted, we must
Be mature and wise and have
Left our childish ways
Behind us, leaving
Fairness and equity
In our wake, not
Disaster and want and ' '
Suffering. Once we are
At full stature,
He will come, the
Landowner, and see
What we have done
And every one lived and
Grown will be
Called to task for the
Deeds of his hands, the seed
He has sown - truly I tell you
The Ledgers will be full as we
Count and weigh the grain.
