The God of my journeys

The God of my journeys
wheels above me like the
heavens unseen in daylight.

Those two bright stars
tracing their arcs
are my morning and
evening stars, brighter
and more steadfast
than all others

And in the celestial courts
when I am admitted,
the stone floor is cold
on forehead and palms
but my white seat
and footstool
comfort

as I sit with the Creator
and his son, bright flames
in the wide urns,
silence and being
within the spiral arms

as the flashes of beginning
and end strobe like
lightning from his hands.
