The Capital

today we wake in the
Capital, full of noise and
flags, people, cars, trams

a good breakfast in our
bellies, strong coffee
fortify the day ahead

of colour and happiness
as two people are wed

soon we will don hat, dress,
and kilt, and we will
saunter down Princes Street

like we own it - this
place in our home country
the pavements will be

ours today with family
and food, laughter and
a day of good where
hearts melt
