Something Happened

I

Something happened
to the sweet little thing
whose presence I
miss in her
padding her throat
and her softness
her sweet face
something happened to
erase.

II

Something happened to
subtract my life to
diminish me in
stature, foot and
fight, my sweet body
lost deformed
and all the sweet skin
scarred for life.
