Slivers

Breaking glass jags
my concentration and the
outside swoops in with
running feet
my insides scrape as the
pubs tip their contents outside
spill youth on the roadside.

I hate this time of night
it is too full
of the hell of others:
their lives snatch my silence
remind me of a sweating
presence outwith my door.
