Sinking

I am sitting
sinking into that
brown turgid
river water that
has collected
debris and scum.
Who can come? My
diary is full of
names I cannot call.
All out, out across
town, out to
lunch, too far
out to be
with a down and out
dejected by
her own time. I
visit them in my
head and
wish them here
these mythical friends
I hold dear.
