Profanity

Lives in black and white
stilled
tin-framed
stuck blithely on pub walls for the clientele to
glance
at on their way to the next round.
The faces stare
uneasy
unamused
at our lack of care our sense of the profound
hazed by
blue smoke and shallow
atmosphere.
I wonder where they are now - our dullness
would amaze were they really here.
