In Tune

I rage out as I watch the pain:
earth is blasted, bare, the test is done.

The hole is bleak, raw to the sky:
lost strength, lost delicacy -

lush foliage gone:
black beyond redemption -

this nature was mine as much as theirs:
fallout that will penetrate the years

with nothing left to contaminate:
agony of a vast mistake

lasting long enough to see us cry in shame:
too late to heal our science of pain.
