Eating Pieces

Everyone wants
A piece of your body
Mind heart or soul
They extract from you
Cut chunks and chew
To change and grow.
Watch them inject their probe.
See the blood flow.

Everything feeds.
These microscopic
Parasites I see jerking
In my eyes
Feed off me to survive.
I feed on plants
And animals, digest their energy
To move think be.

When I die one day
I will rebirth
As tree: my body
Sucking on sap
Will rise, spread, yield -
Each year I will relive myself
Again in Spring
All draped in green.

I will know
All creatures everywhere
The fed and feeding.
As I root
And grow my rings
I will be forever
Unpieced and
Replenishing.
