Callanish II

Crouched at their core I talked to the wind
desperate to hear them answer me -
touched my fingers gently against them,
gazed at their queer symmetry

wanting to be a part of their time,
find the wisdom long lost,
re-trace our errors, learn from the past,
resurrect the ancient ghost.

But they stood firm and warm ignoring me,
with purpose perfectly poised.
I left when I saw the profane arrive
and the silence churned with noise

and though I felt no speech had begun
they must have spoken to me -
I left with a feeling of well-being,
I left with an energy.
