Birth

tiny little hands
little births of green
stretching from the stem

tiny fingers reach
toward the light from
the window bayed and

wide - and I sit
near them looking
at their slow-motion

barely perceptible
reaching out of
silence and the dark

to appear near me
in the light
small and

perfectly formed and
still growing
pale delicate hands of green
