Beaches

There are many beaches
from the shore of the Sea
of Galilee, to Saint
Andrew's Bay, to Alnwick's
long stretch, to Newquay,
to the Iona shore
before, before ...

and then the beauty
of the Western Isles' sands
as the sun sets
and one in Greece I saw
once in my life

to far out Barra
and Lewis, recently,
and to Shetland also.

Not to mention the heartbreak
strand of Cruden Bay
where I cried.

My eyes see them now
in the middle of a mild
winter morning, so many
songs of the sea
in my heart.
