Bad Day in Black Rock

was the day I headed
for the women's centre to
photocopy two
letters to the
disability people
begging for money and
being plaintif. Bad

day I sat looking
out at the rain the young
silver birches
waving

and I thought it
no bad thing
to lose my flat and
home, to relieve the
burden, let it
be gone

and be without a
single thing
of my own

except bike and
spirit and the
will to keep on

travelling
