2nd Trilogy I

Ah look at that!
glorious above the estuary
soused in gold
the light-pale sky
holds the sun
as it goes down -
river of gold on the water
path to the edge -

my whale road
in forest and green
as if I were young -
I head east, the
light behind me
scouring clouds to pink

ahead, always, the
road towards the coast
as if one day
I will board my boat

head out into expanse
and width of freedom
with no walls
and glide, not lost,
but seen, awaited,

all the treading stone done
only the slow smooth move
on the water
bearing me away

to an open place
a new day
